Defining Values

Building upon our statement of faith, these Biblical values help to describe the convictions and practices of Redeeming Grace Church.

Gospel-centered / Cross-centered. As Paul reminded the Corinthians, the gospel is of first importance (1 Cor. 15:3-4) for the church of Jesus Christ. We often use the terms gospel-centered and cross-centered interchangeably. That’s because the cross of Christ is the fullest expression and ultimate event in God’s redemption of man through our Savior’s suffering and death. Of course when we speak of the gospel and the cross in this way we are really taking the most central part and using it to describe the whole–of all that Christ has accomplished for us through his life, death and resurrection.

Word-oriented. God has chosen to make Himself known to us most fully through his written and inspired Word. We therefore pursue and teach sound doctrine, we emphasize expository preaching, and a rigorous personal pursuit of the Word through reading, study, and scripture meditation.

Humility-cultivating. A proper understand of the gospel of the grace of God through the cross of Christ ought to result in the most profound humility. Growing in humility is our earnest response to the gospel, and our constant effort as we combat out inherent sinful tendencies toward pride. Among our efforts to cultivate humility we make it our ambition to serve others, to walk in humble interdependence with our sister churches in Sovereign Grace Ministries, to maintain hearts of prayerful dependence on God, to pursue each other in Biblical fellowship, and to remind ourselves of our true condition as redeemed sinners, whose sins have been paid for by nothing less than the precious blood of Christ.

Commitment to Home Groups. Our Sunday morning worship is the most important meeting of the church. We gather to sing praise, experience and exercise the gifts of the Spirit and hear the preaching of the Word. However, we are also committed to walking out the Christian life in smaller meeting where we can truly get to know others and be known. Therefore home group participation is a required privilege of membership at Redeeming Grace Church.

Church Planting. The advance of the gospel–what we usually refer to as missions and evangelism–is, in its most essential form, the work of church planting. We therefore want to grow as a church, in every respect, so that God may be glorified in the planting of Redeeming Grace and, Lord willing, in other churches that may one day be planted out from us.

Plurality of Elders. (see the Leadership Team page).

Complementarianism. We believe that the complementarian view of the distinctions in the roles of men and women is the most faithful to scripture. While this may be a hot topic and certainly stands in stark contrast to modern sensibilities that see no such distinctions, nevertheless we embrace God’s design for men and women including their distinct roles.
